SHORTS FROM THE SHELF features short serialized fiction by author Shannon Muir, administrator of SHANNON MUIR’S THE PULP AND MYSTERY SHELF, that may be later released as part of e-book or print collections. The story line featured currently is “Give Me Another LaChance,” which will run over the next eight consecutive days. This is Part Eight.

“Welcome home, Rikah.”

Rikah took Rowan’s hand into her own.

“Exactly. So how do you feel about going into business together? LaChance and LaChance?”

It surprised him that the suggestion came from her. He watched her puzzled expression as he scrunched up his face.

“Besides, I have a mystery I need to solve now, for my children’s sakes. Who I really am. Do you think you’d be willing to help?”

“I guess I need to think about that.”

Then, almost immediately, he changed his expression and smiled at her.

“I think I’d like to seal that deal with a kiss.”
