SHORTS FROM THE SHELF features short serialized fiction by author Shannon Muir, administrator of SHANNON MUIR’S THE PULP AND MYSTERY SHELF, that may be later released as part of e-book or print collections. The story line featured currently is “Haunted by Dreamer Shores,” which will run over the next four consecutive days. This is Part Four.

“I still can’t believe you agreed to having Thanksgiving at the Royales,” Olly told her as he straightened his tie. “How can we face Tessa after what’s going on?”

“I’m sure Tessa’s is aware of her husband having affairs. She may not know some of them were coerced but blackmail.”

“If not for the kids, I swear I would give Clif a piece of my mind. But we need to protect them. You had some powerful but unpopular one-nighters in your early days. We can’t let people know about those.”

Breah tried her best to step into her dress. It already fit rather tight, and she didn’t know if she could keep any food down. Most definitely the worst morning sickness she ever had.

“Remember, Breah, no matter how you feel, don’t let on to that jerk tonight you’ll be having his children. We need to use that blackmail in our own time. Turnabout is fair play.”

Right now to Breah, nothing seemed terribly fair at all.

No matter what she did to outrun her past, Breah still found herself caught up in being ensnared by it. She felt it might haunt her forever.
