SHORTS FROM THE SHELF features short serialized fiction by author Shannon Muir, administrator of SHANNON MUIR’S THE PULP AND MYSTERY SHELF, that may be later released as part of e-book or print collections. The story line featured over the next  fifteen days is “Beyond the Shining Stars”. This is part 15 of 15.

The police investigation took hours. Once they’d been talked to over and the scene finally cleared, the officers offered to take Randy to the police station to reunite with the one he cared about.

“Sorry to leave you here, Uncle, but I really need to go.”

“I would too, if I were in your place. It’s been a crazy last couple of days. Thankfully, the two of you will be back together now, and all this is over.”

“Not exactly. Now we have to deal with true identities and relationships being revealed. We kind of wanted to avoid that, at least for a while longer.”

“Hopefully in time you’ll be able to come out from living in Hollywood’s shadow and be the people you need to be, Randy.”

Sam shook Randy’s hand.

“And just know that, whenever you choose to, know that your family’s here waiting for you to find out the whole story.”

“Thank you, Uncle. And if you ever need disguise advice, give me a call. I’ll always be glad to help.”

After that, Randy left with the officers. Sam knew he’d have one heck of a story to tell his journalist wife when he got home. He wondered if she’d believe it.
