The Splintered Crown
A Tankards and Heroes Novel
by Larry N. Martin
Genre: Epic Fantasy, Adventure Quest
A medieval fantasy with a party of adventurers all ready to make a name
for themselves and earn some gold.
Tankards and Heroes is set in the city of Kortufan, where spies, assassins,
mercenaries, arms dealers, rebels, smugglers, and informants do dirty
deals dirt cheap.
The Poxy Dragon is a rough bar outside the worst part of the medieval
Silk Road. It takes serious courage just to walk into the place, not
only from its reputation but because of the rough clientele,
questionable food, awful beer, and abysmal hygiene. Lots of taverns
in Kortufan are home to ruffians and illegal dealings, but the Poxy
Dragon is the proving ground for heroes – with a cemetery out back
for the ones who don’t make the cut.
Lady Leota, the resident demigoddess at the Poxy Dragon, sends would-be
heroes to different realms on quests. Once committed, there is no
turning back, and if they want their reward, every party member must
return through the portal – dead or alive.

The Joy of Adventure

By Larry N. Martin

Today is a good day for an adventure. Retrieve a splinter of a broken crown from a dangerous realm and, if you survive, the reward is enough gold to set yourself up on a country estate, out of the squalid city, where you and your friends will never be hungry again. Sound like fun?

The Poxy Dragon tavern is a gateway to dangerous quests and amazing adventures, a proving ground for heroes. Demigoddess Leota sends would-be heroes on their way, offering them a chance to make their wishes come true—if they succeed and return. Those who don’t make it are buried in the cemetery behind the tavern.

The regulars in the Poxy Dragon take bets on the parties of adventurers, wagering on whether or not they’re likely to survive. But when Kieron and his found family of misfits show up to prove their worth and build a future for themselves, even Leota doesn’t know whether they can beat the creatures and challenges that await them. Welcome to a fast-paced medieval fantasy with a party of adventurers all ready to make a name for themselves and earn some gold.
