About the Book

The Russian & Aunt Sophia (A Mary Catherine Mahoney Mystery Novella)
Cozy Mystery
Novella #1
Self Published (January 16, 2018)
Print Length: 77 pages
ASIN: B0793BTWPD

When mobsters frame her aunt, one psychic dives headfirst into a criminal conspiracy.

Mary Catherine, MC for short, inherited her family’s psychic abilities and a knack for trouble. When her fortune-telling aunt is accused of murdering a Russian mobster and refuses to defend herself by revealing what she saw in a card reading, it’s up to MC to divine the truth.

But if MC isn’t careful, she could end up sharing a jail cell with her aunt … or swimming with the fishes.

The Russian and Aunt Sophia is a madcap cozy mystery novella that could only take place in Florida. If you like surreal plots, well-rounded characters, and quirky comedy, then you’ll love Rita Moreau’s psychic whodunit.

About the Author

INTERVIEW WITH THE AUTHOR

What initially got you interested in writing?

“It was on my bucket list.  After I retired I had the time to devote to writing.”

What genres do you write in?

“Cozy murder and mystery, thriller and suspense.”

What drew you to writing these specific genres?

“These are my favorite genres to read.”

How did you break into the field?

“I was lucky that I when I retired and I started writing when eBooks took off and I was able to publish as a indie author.  I’m not getting any younger. Traditional publishing takes too long.”

What do you want readers to take away from reading your works?

“I want them to laugh, escape for awhile and at the end of the book I hope they enjoyed reading it as much as I did writing it.”

What do you find most rewarding about writing?

“The ability to allow my readers some time for themselves. “

What do you find most challenging about writing?

“Producing books as quickly as the market today demands.”

What advice would you give to people wanting to enter the field?

“If you go the indie route just be prepared. Writing the book is just the beginning. You will need to market and sell the books.”

What type of books do you enjoy reading?

“Michael Connelly, Robert Crais, Mary Higgins Clark, Sue Grafton.”

Is there anything else besides writing you think people would find interesting about you?

“I teach group fitness and have taught group fitness since 1991. I teach all types of formats. I really enjoy teaching my SilverSneakers and Zumba.”

What are the best ways to connect with you, or find out more about your work?
