Ever Chace is a Valkyrie, but not just any Valkyrie—she’s a Valkyrie queen in the making.
Torn between the past and present, love and obligation, Ever is terrified of saying the words that would break the curse she is bound to. Pushing Derek away hasn’t simplified things; it has only made her miserable. With her father waking, and her and Derek’s lives on the line, can she really shy away from who and what she is becoming? How long can Ever keep her past lives a secret?
Pushing thoughts of his mate aside, Derek tries to focus on the task at hand—tracking down a monster that leaves nothing but a husk behind. But Ever is never truly off his mind, even as two of his own become targets of the unsub. Can he set his personal distractions aside to keep his team alive?

EXCERPT:
A nudge to her shoulder. “Have I told you how sexy your mind is? I mean the package isn’t bad either, but damn that brain is smokin’ hot.”
Ever swatted him. “Please don’t tell me you’ve been taking romantic advice from Ricky.” She saw a flash of guilt cross his face. “You have! Oh honey! You’re doing fine on your own. If I’d wanted a smooth Casanova, then I’d have gone for Ricky.”
Derek growled, and Ever laughed harder, the sound easing the storm inside her for a brief period of time. She listened intently as Derek explained about Ricky acting weird around Melanie, how hard this new case was, and a little about Sarge’s new position.
“I’m not born to lead them, Ever. I’m not meant to rot behind a desk and deal with political crap.”
“Then change the rules,” she told him. “Hire a PA to deal with all the political stuff, or a liaison. Do what you’re doing right now, but with added responsibility.” Ever stifled a yawn, clasping her hand over her mouth. “Sorry.”
“Don’t be. Been a long day. Go get some rest. If you feel like hanging out again in a day or two, let me know. I like spending time with you, Ever Chace.”
“You could stay.” The words slipped from her mouth, taking even her by surprise.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
Ever shrugged her shoulders. “I promise not to throw myself at you,” she said with a small smile. “I just felt we might need it.” She backed into her room, kicked off her slippers, and slid under the covers, her heart pounding in her chest.
Closing her eyes as she heard the sound of boots hitting the ground, Ever felt the covers being lifted up and Derek sliding into bed beside her. Ever lay as still as she could, and Derek slunk a hand around her waist and pulled her flush against him. Derek rested his chin against the crook of her shoulder, pressing his lips to the fabric of her pyjama top.
“G’night, Ever Chace.”
“Goodnight, Derek Doyle.”
And wrapped in the arms of the man she had loved for eons, Ever fell into a dreamless sleep.
