BLOG TOUR – Awakening
A Gripping Modern Day Norse Mythology…
By Kevin D. Miller
What initially got you interested in writing?
Funny enough growing up I never would have thought I would aspire tp be an author, let alone publish a book. I have always had a vivid imagination and loved all things science fiction and fantasy. But it wasnt until I started my hour long commute to work that I started running ideas through my mind as I drove the I-10. As time went on the ideas blossomed into stories, though manly back then, the stories were focused on what I would do in a zombie apocalypse. I was really into The Walking Dead at the time. Then one day while watching the series premiere of the History channel’s TV show Vikings, that I got the Idea for Awakening. Figuring why not, I started to writing Awakening soon after.
What genres do you write in?
Epic Fantasy, Action and Adventure
What drew you to writing these specific genres?
Ive always been drawn to fantasy stories. Magic, gods, and the supernatural, these kinds of stories have always captured my attention.
What do you find most rewarding about writing?
Hearing that people enjoy my story and want to know more. It always brightens my day when I hear my friends talking about where they are in the story and discussing all of the scenes they enjoyed and the “shhhhs’s” they say when someone accidentally reveals a spoiler.
What do you find most challenging about writing?
Finding the time to write. In the beginning I had tried to write after work, but a combination of other obligations and the fatigue of a long day at work followed by an hour drive home always had me struggling to focus when I sat down to write. It wasnt until I had decided to bring my laptop to work and try writing during my lunch that it finally took off. But even then, there were several distractions that at times kept me from writing. Luckily with a little determination, I was able to eventually finish Awakening.
What advice would you give to people wanting to enter the field?
Dive in head first. It cost nothing to writing your story. So if you have an idea that really interest you, get going, there’s nothing holding you back from writing it.
What type of books do you enjoy reading?
Science fiction and fantasy books have always been my favorite.
