BEYOND THE SHELF is general commentary about the blog or the mystery and crime writing business by author and site administrator Shannon Muir that doesn’t fall in the scope of a regular column. This week’s topic takes on managing to write, but still searching for focus.

Lately I’ve struggled with writing bits and parts of different stories. I’m pulled in a number of directions, wanting to do different things. I know it would be better strategically to focus on just one project, but at the moment that’s just difficult. At least I feel like I am making some progress.

Right now I just try to be pleased if I can get in a little writing each day. It’s a step in the right direction… and I’ll take all those I can get.
