BEYOND THE SHELF is general commentary about the blog or the mystery and crime writing business by author and site administrator Shannon Muir that doesn’t fall in the scope of a regular column. This week’s topic focuses on deadlines and commitments.

WATCH FOR PART 13 OF 14 OF “SHINING A LIGHT ON CRIME” TO RESUME ON APRIL 20, 2019. SORRY FOR THE INTERRUPTION!

Deadlines and commitments are good things to keep you motivated and keeping people knowing what to expect. Sometimes, however, life is about learning when things are out of your control and coping with it. This then leads to having to manage expectations.

I know I’ve done this a bit recently in terms of providing my own columns to you. I had a plan to get back on track, then an opportunity came along I’m confident will help me be a better mystery writer, but my sacrifice was staying on track with my commitments.

Thanks for sticking with me. I look forward to being able to provide newer, stronger content soon.

Shannon
