BEYOND THE SHELF is general commentary about the blog or the mystery and crime writing business by author and site administrator Shannon Muir that doesn’t fall in the scope of a regular column. This week’s topic takes on trying to prioritize through brainstorms and deciding what to focus on.

I have a lot of ideas – old and new- tugging at me lately begging to be written. The tough part is trying to stick long with any of them.

Each one will get my attention for a brief moment, and then another, then something else. Though I am writing, I don’t feel focused and therefore not productive – even though I am doing something!

Hopefully I’ll get across the finish line with something soon.
